Below are example units on sustainable agriculture education based on age/year in school of learners.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM (Grades 3–5)
Theme: “Where Our Food Comes From & How We Help the Earth”
Overall Goals:
- Understand the basics of food production.
- Explore how nature (soil, water, air) supports farming.
- Learn how choices can help the environment.
- Practice observation, storytelling, and hands-on discovery.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CURRICULUM (Grades 6–8)
Theme: “Farming for the Future: Agriculture & Climate Solutions”
Overall Goals:
- Understand basic food systems and how climate affects them.
- Explore soil, crops, carbon, and sustainability.
- Connect agricultural practices to environmental impact.
- Build critical thinking through debate, experiments, and design.
HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM (Grades 9–12)
Theme: “Agriculture in the Age of Climate Change: Science, Policy, and Innovation”
Overall Goals:
- Investigate scientific and social aspects of agriculture and emissions.
- Analyze climate-smart agriculture.
- Design solutions to reduce agriculture’s climate impact.
- Apply critical thinking, leadership, and public engagement.
